The new course is based on a revised version of the old syllabus released by ISEB in June 2007. The exams for the new course will be ready in July but it is unlikely the new courses will be available until later in the year (Q3 - Q4). The new course is consistent with the current ISEB/ISTQB Foundation certificate methods and terminology.
The new format is split into modules, as follows:
- The Intermediate Practitioner Certificate
A pre-requisite to the other modules of the course and intended as the bridge between the current foundation certificate and the more difficult practitioner level. This will be taught over three days of training and will lead to a 1 hour, 25 question scenario based multiple choice paper. Successful completion of this paper will lead to the award of the qualification 'ISEB Intermediate Certificate in Software Testing'.
- The Practitioner Certificate in Test Management
Following on from the foundation and intermediate certificates, this is a further 3 days training with an emphasis on test management, leading to a two hour written examination. Successful completion of this paper will lead to the award of the qualification 'ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Software Test Management'.
- The Practitioner Certificate in Test Analysis
Following on from the foundation and intermediate certificates, this is a further 3 days training with an emphasis on test analysis and techniques, leading to a two hour written examination. Successful completion of this paper will lead to the award of the qualification 'ISEB Practitioner Certificate in Software Test Analysis'.
